The Rise of Generation X & CoVid19

I’m convinced our country will be closer after all of this. We’ve been divided for a lot of years, and it’s been escalating. You just can’t keep that kind of tension for very long. Our country, our world, is about to pivot and we need rational heads to prevail.

Fact: Many in the U.S. allowed the media to shape our response to a deadly virus. One that won’t kill the earth’s population, but one that will be causing a lot of disruption. Has already. I was one of those blinded media watchers. My eyes to the reality of this situation were only opened last Friday when Disney closed and they cancelled schools in my state, and, for this, I apologize.

I see a shift happening in our country.

The Millenials are mad at the Boomers. The Democrats are mad at the Republicans. And the Democrats are mad at each other. But GenXers, we’re not really mad at anybody. It’s my generation that must step up to lead. We must listen to our elders, and work alongside our sons and daughters.

The thing about National Emergencies, as declared by President Trump, is that they force Americans to combat a common problem. We work well together, we really do, and an entire generation is about to witness that for the very first time. Our nation will be stronger on the other side.

It’s no wonder younger folks are upset with us older folks, we just can’t seem to get along about anything. But here’s what I know…a lot of younger folks got some really bad news the other day and they need their mom’s and dads to step up. The conversations will be different this time. They really need you. Trust me.

And, oh yeah, don’t worry. We’ll all get a trophy on the other side.

Some people called me a blogger once. Now, I’m just tucking away some words for myself and you. Here to shine a bit of light on this present darkness.
